Health Resources and Services Administrtion (HRSA) Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) Program Grant

September 18, 2017 – The Departments of Social Work and Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research at the University of Memphis have been awarded a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) Program grant. The total award is $1,917,762 and will be distributed over a four-year period September 30, 2017, to September 29, 2021. The five faculty on the award team are Susan Neely-Barnes (principal investigator), Elena Delavega, Laura Taylor, Steve Zanskas and Chloe Lancaster. You can read additional information about this award at this link.

Memphis-led team awarded $13.8 million to develop mPerf mobile sensor technology for workplace assessment

Dr. Santosh KumarJuly 26, 2017 - Many of us use mobile sensors to monitor our health and wellness. These sensors can now also be used to help us improve our work performance and productivity. Toward that end, a University of Memphis-led, six-university team will develop and test a system of mobile sensors and software, called mPerf, that can be used to objectively assess everyday job performance. The mPerf project is sponsored by the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA)'s Multimodal Objective Sensing to Assess Individuals with Context (MOSAIC) program. Professor Chairs International Conferences on Artificial Intelligence in Education and Educational Data Mining

Dr. Xiangen HuJuly 21, 2017 - Dr. Xiangen Hu of the University of Memphis was the local arrangement chair for the 18th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) and the conference chair for the 10th International Educational Data Mining (EDM) conferences, which were both held in Wuhan, China, recently. Hu is a professor in the UofM Departments of Psychology, Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Institute for Intelligent Systems, and at Central China Normal University. NSF Grant recipients

Dr. Xiao Shen Dr. Jingbaio Cui Dr. Thang Ba Hoang

Three of our faculty have been awarded NSF grants for projects which starts July 1st 2017 through June 30th 2020. Drs. Shen & Cui would work on a project titled "Silicon Telluride, A 2D Material with Unique Variable Structure." Dr. Hoang, the third recipient would work on a project titled "Directional Superradiant Light Emission-Near-Zero Plasmonic Nanochannels." Find out more about the grants and projects here
